Hi, I have been working as a Cognition coach for 8 years.
Over that time I have worked with many different people from diverse backgrounds & I came to realise that despite our differences, people in general all pretty much Think the same way for the same reasons.
Understanding Cognition doesn't need to be complicated. The reasons why we Think, Act & Behave the way we do is actually quite obvious and predictable once you understand the root cause.
I help people understand what they are doing to contribute towards their own Unhelpful Thinking problems.
It's all about Self Awareness & Accountability.
No one else can resolve what's going on inside your head other than You!
I help people recognise that their attitude is one of the biggest factors preventing them from overcoming their issues & living their best possible life.
YOUR PROBLEM ISN'T THE PROBLEM. YOUR ATTITUDE TOWARDS IT IS!!
My passion in life is helping people get unstuck and reach their full potential.
Break the habit coaching is about helping people recognise that their unhelpful thinking today is nothing more than an unhelpful habit. A habit that they have created and that they are actively maintaining day to day. Once people recognise that their depression, addiction, PTSD, anxiety, low self esteem, brooding etc are not unresolvable problems & that they are nothing more than (thinking) habits that have become implicit, they feel empowered to put the work in to resolve their problems permanently. You do not need a miracle to improve your Mental Health, all you need is self awareness, a change of perspective, a change of attitude and a large amount of accountability, and you can overcome any type of Mental Health problem in very short amount of time.
You cannot control life but YOU can control how YOU respond to it!
Self Awareness
Understand how your mind works. In order to fix a problem, you first need to understand the root cause. Having Self-Awareness means having a good understanding of ‘why you think the way you think’. Becoming aware of your own unhelpful, habitual thinking means you are able to identify the areas where you need make change & then apply effort specific to that area.
The way you think about anything today isn't fixed. You can change any unhelpful thinking habits, once you recognise they are there.
Self Efficacy
A big component related to Mental Health recovery is the attitude people have to whether or not they can fix their issue. People typically feel powerless to improving their situation rather than powerful. Once people recognise that they are empowered and capable of changing their situation for the better, they put maximum effort into making the necessary changes. In session #2 I help people recognise that their problem isn't happening 'to them', in stead it has been created and is being maintained 'by them'. And so the great news is that, if you are the one maintaining it, you are the one that can fix it.
Self Esteem
Good self esteem is fundamental to maintaining good, strong and reliable Mental Health. It's a misconception that people believe that their self-esteem is fixed & unchangable. It isn't!
Your Self Esteem is based on nothing more than your own inner voice and the relationship that you have with yourself. Do you like who you are or do you spend most of your time beating yourself up. Either way, it's nothing more than a habit that can be changed quite easily once you put a bit of effort in.
Self Development
In session #4 we pull everything together. We've already identified the areas of your life (thinking) that are not serving you very well and now we can put together a roadmap on what you need to do day-to-day to make significant improvements. Improving and maintaining good, reliable Mental Health is a 'doing' thing. Just like physical health, it needs to be checked and maintained consistently to ensure you are always on track & functioning to the best of your ability.
